The AI Assistant is designed to support managers in preparing thoughtful, aligned, and development-focused feedback during coaching conversations.

By reviewing key information already available in a team member’s profile, the AI Assistant helps managers:

  • Reinforce strengths

  • Clarify performance

  • Connect feedback to responsibilities and KPIs

  • Align development to professional goals

  • Turn insights into actionable development steps

Important: The AI Assistant is meant to enhance your manager's perspective — not replace it.


Where to Find the AI Assistant

The AI Assistant is available within any active conversation for managers.

To access it:

  1. Navigate to a conversation with a direct report

  2. Locate the comments box

  3. Click the “AI Assistant” button


How to Use the AI Assistant

Follow these steps for best results:

1. Write Your Perspective First

Start by drafting your perspective as you normally would.

This ensures the conversation reflects your authentic observations and intent.

2. Click the AI Assistant Button

Select the AI Assistant to generate suggestions based on the conversation context.

3. Add Context or a Prompt (Optional but Recommended)

You can guide the AI Assistant by adding a specific prompt or question.

Example prompts:

  • “Connect this feedback to their top responsibilities.”

  • “Where am I not clearly addressing KPI performance?”

  • “What strengths should I reinforce based on past conversations?”

  • “What 2–3 development actions should they focus on over the next 3–6 months?”

4. Review Suggested Insights

The AI Assistant may provide:

  • Key themes or patterns

  • Strengths to reinforce

  • Areas for improvement

  • Connections to goals or KPIs

  • Suggested development actions

5. Refine and Apply

Use the suggestions to:

  • Strengthen clarity

  • Improve alignment

  • Add coaching depth

  • Identify actionable next steps

You can incorporate all, some, or none of the suggestions.


What the AI Assistant Uses

The AI Assistant reviews information within the team member’s uMap profile, including:

  • Personal Insights

  • Professional Insights

  • Development Plan

  • Past Conversations

  • Peer Feedback

  • Current Conversation Content

This allows it to provide contextual and relevant suggestions.
